» GREAT BLUEBIRD CONDITIONS ON THE FIRST DAY OF WINTERSKOL! «
The sun(yes, the round yellow thing) popped out after a two week absence. The snow kept coming and coming and at last count we are in the 4 feet range of accumulation. I wish I could put into words how exhausted I am from skiing all those powder days.
I’m sitting at my computer after only two hours of skiing this morning and I can’t ski anymore. Every muscle is sore from my chest down. Yesterday we skied Aspen mountain and with the sun, you could actually see where you were going. The best runs of the day were Face of Bell, Ridge of Bell, Walsh’s and the Dumps. Bobby’s pick of the day is going to be Silver Queen. Recently opened, this run offers a great pitch and an abundance of powder. This run rarely gets skied because people just forget about it. You’ll find this run at the end of International and it ends up at the top of Little Nell. Give it try on your next trip. Today I went to Highlands for the first day of Winterskol. The snow firmed up a bit overnight making the moguls a challenge but the trees still held some decent powder. The Oly side of the mountain is skiing well and the latest storms didn’t do their usual wind damage to that side. With my body not offering any cooperation, I stuck to groomers for the last hour and they were quite fun. Apple Strudel is a fav with all the rollers. I’m taking the next two days off for recovery and I’ll be back at it on Monday. I think I may venture over to Snowmass and see how the Wall is shaping up.
